«Focus on Switzerland - a new understanding between society, politics and business»
Face-to-face dialogue and rapprochement between society, politics and business are
indispensible requirements for the enduring development of Switzerland. Representatives
of the three sectors stressed precisely that point at a landmark event organized by
SIX Group. The topic was discussed in depth in three lectures and a subsequent podium
discussion.

Politicians in the world of business: A shift in perspective is required
For a certain Unité de Doctrine to arise between business and politics in terms of issues
of central importance, heightened awareness is necessary on both sides of the aisle:
businessmen must embrace an understanding for political aspects and compromises, while
politicians demonstrate an understanding that the economic necessity of making unpopular
decisions cannot always correspond with the politically desirable.

communities analyzed what has gone awry in the interaction between business, politics
and society, and suggested initial steps that need to be taken in order to resolve the
crisis of confidence. Taking part in the discussion, which was moderated by Swiss
Television's Reto Brennwald, were Stefan Borgas, CEO of Lonza Group, Rosmarie Michel,
entrepreneur, Lena Schneller, president of the Young Liberals of Switzerland party,
Peter Siegenthaler, Director of the Swiss Federal Finance Administration, and Martin
Werlen, abbot of the Einsiedeln monastery.
