Mountain guide with diploma, helicopter pilot, extreme mountaineer, bestselling author
Evelyne Binsack is a passionate adventurer. After school, she started her career with an apprenticeship as a sports article saleswoman and at the same time pursued her athletic career in athletics. But then she was fascinated by the interaction as a team on the mountain, which stood in complete contrast to each other in individual competitions in running. She quickly understood that for survival in the steep face it was essential to respect the laws of nature and to train physical and mental abilities tirelessly. Evelyne Binsack was one of the first women in Europe to graduate as a mountain guide in 1991, the first Swiss to climb Mount Everest in 2001, the Eiger North Face (1990, 1994, 1999) and climbed the highest peaks of the Himalayas and the Andes on her own. Her greatest challenge between 2006 and 2008 was the extreme adventure in 484 days and 25,000 kilometres through 16 countries from Switzerland to the South Pole, which she mastered with her own muscle power by bicycle, on foot, ski and sleigh.

Director of the University Hospital for Cardiovascular Surgery, Inselspital, University of Bern
Thierry Carrel (58) completed his medical studies at the University of Bern in 1984 and received his doctorate in 1985, followed by training as an FMH specialist in general surgery and later in cardiovascular surgery. He habilitated in 1993 under Prof. M. Turina at the University of Zurich. He then spent time abroad in Hanover, Paris, Helsinki and Baltimore. In 1999 he was appointed full professor and director of the Clinic for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Inselspital at the University of Bern.

Since the beginning of his cardiac surgery career, Thierry Carrel has performed over 12,000 procedures (as an surgeon, teacher or assistant). He is the author of over 650 scientific publications and co-editor of several international journals. In 2014, he was awarded the Da Vinci Prize by the European Society of Cardiac Surgery as the best instructor in Europe and in 2015 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Fribourg. In 2018 he became a member of the board of the American Society of Cardiac Surgery.

Neal Pollard is responsible for the bank's global cyber and information security and risk management. Prior to joining UBS, was a partner at Ernst & Young in New York City, where he lead cyber threat and risk management services for corporate clients globally. He was also a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Before he joined Big Four consulting, he was a senior officer in the intelligence community, serving multiple managerial and operational counterterrorism assignments in the National Counterterrorism Center, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and the Central Intelligence Agency. He was director for counterterrorism on the staff of the U.S. Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism and was a member of the United Nation's Expert Working Group on use of the Internet for terrorist purposes. He was also vice president of Hicks & Associates and general counsel and board director of the Terrorism Research Center, a corporation he cofounded in 1996. He holds a number of academic affiliations, including senior fellow of the Cyber Statecraft Initiative at the Atlantic Council, adjunct professor at Georgetown University and Fordham Law School, and board director of the Cyber Conflict Studies Association. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, where he was an International Affairs Fellow, and is a member of the Virginia Bar.

As a senior advisor, he supports the firm’s executive leadership and client franchise on cybersecurity, technology risk, digital business risk, and operational resilience. In addition to this, Phil spearheads the firm’s work with industry associations and initiatives to reduce systemic risk.

Phil serves on the Executive Committee of the US Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council for Critical Infrastructure Protection, is co-chair of the Board of Sheltered Harbor, and is a member of the boards of the Center for Internet Security and the NYU School of Engineering. He is also an advisor to the cyber-security efforts of the US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, and serves on the Advisory Board to the Director of a US intelligence agency.
