Speakers
August Benz on Opening Doors for Innovation
Mobile Banking, Cloud, DLT or Digital Assets – major technological and economic trends are changing the banking industry as we know it. What are Swiss Banks doing in terms of digital innovation? And what is the role of the Swiss Bankers Association to promote innovation and collaboration? August Benz will explain how the SBA is opening doors to foster innovation and collaboration in the Swiss financial market.
Start-ups Collaboration Panel
With decreasing costs of game-changing technology and lower financial barriers, incubators and accelerator programs helping small teams become highly organized and well-connected power-houses, start-ups are disrupting markets before market leaders can react. Many corporations have found that seeking relationships with start-ups that are more than strictly transactional can be beneficial for both. But how to structure the partnerships? What works and what stands in the way of collaboration?
Participants:
Kevin Abosch on Blockchain as a Method
One of the world’s most celebrated artists, Kevin Abosch challenges conventional notions of identity and value. His works in photography, installation, sculpture, film and generative technologies like AI and blockchain have been exhibited in numerous public institutions including The State Hermitage Museum in St Petersberg, Russia. Abosch’s work using blockchain technology as a method in making art continues to grab headlines across the globe and stimulate conversation around how and why we value anything at all.
Tokenisation of Arts Panel
“Imagine owning a part of a Picasso!” is the typical example one gives when talking about tokenization. The new technology enables people to invest and trade shares of their favorite art and artists. But art collectors know that provenance influences the value of a work of art. What do museums, global exhibitions, and artists think of this new attempt of democratization of art buying? How do technology and platforms like Maecenas change the way we make, buy, consume, and perceive art?
Participants:
Michele De Lorenzi on Supercomputers
The Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) in Lugano is part of ETH Zurich and operates one of the largest supercomputers worldwide and the first one in Europe. In this presentation, Dr. Michele De Lorenzi would like to present what supercomputers are, what is needed to run them, and why they are essential to solving important problems for our society. He will also present challenging problems that require new generations of supercomputers and how the center is going to address them.
Monique Morrow on Digital Identities
Could technology enable individuals to have digital safe boxes for identity documents that can be digitally notarized in near real-time? Monique Morrow will discuss the evolution and value of sovereign identity and the opportunity it presents in the industry for services such as “identity verification as a service.” Rather than “centralization of data” which is often hacked and/or abused, she proposes a hybrid solution: the development of the next generation identification.
Alexander Verbeck on the Future of Money
What does the future of cash hold? We cannot answer questions about the future of cash without considering how money might evolve in general. What is considered money, what form it takes, how it is used, and what its infrastructure looks like – all looks set to change dramatically in the near future. Alexander Verbeck will present several future scenarios for money, both in its physical and digital form. The presentation will be based on the new white paper of SIX, which focuses on Switzerland. It was developed with the support of representatives of all relevant stakeholders in the cash industry.
