The VSF was founded in 1981 and currently has around 100 members. According to its articles of association, only the CFOs or former CFOs of major companies can become members. The VSF's aim is to analyze the general challenges relating to the financial management of companies and to come up with solutions. It does this by fostering close dialogue among members and with third parties so that experiences can be shared. To this end it establishes networks with domestic and international organizations that are working towards similar goals.
Daniel Schmucki, CFO of SIX, said: “I am very pleased by the mandate and the confidence of the VSF’s members. The financial management of companies is changing more than ever. Numerous regulatory projects are increasing the demands and workload that companies face. At the same time, the companies themselves are becoming increasingly complex. In order to become better equipped to deal with the resulting challenges, it is very helpful to have networking and dialogue among CFOs. Ultimately, this benefits not only the many different companies listed on SIX that are likewise members of the VSF but also the entire Swiss economy”.
