Index Regulation

SIX announces its compliance with the International Organization of Securities Commission (IOSCO) "Principles for Financial Benchmarks" and with the "Principles for Benchmark-Setting Processes in the EU" issued by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and European Banking Authority (EBA) for the SMI Indices®.

SIX is committed to ensuring compliance of its relevant benchmarks for continued use internationally by our customers and financial service entities. We are currently in the process of implementing the necessary provisions to ensure our benchmarks are capable of achieving endorsement on the ESMA register within the EU and are therefore fully usable by supervised entities within the EU, as required under BMR. We started to enhance benchmark oversight several years ago through our IOSCO compliance efforts as described on this page. Our latest IOSCO compliance statement is available for download and the assurance report is available on request.
