And the winner is . . .

At the Swiss Derivative Awards on Thursday evening, the best Structured Products were recognized. SIX was also among those congratulating the winners.

Now in their thirteenth year, the Swiss Derivative Awards recognize the best Structured Products. The "Oscars of the derivatives industry" were held at AURA in Zurich on Thursday, 22 March 2018. Over 270 top-class guests from Switzerland and abroad came to the event. Since their introduction in 2006, the awards have been supported by SIX as the main sponsor.

André Buck, Head of Sales at SIX Swiss Exchange, has been a member of the jury since 2017. The expert jury is made up of independent, experienced industry experts from Switzerland. It combines both practical and theoretical knowledge and is headed by Prof. Marc Oliver Rieger from Trier University.

For investors, fair prices on the secondary market are an important element of a "good" investment product. The Best Market Maker Awards, presented by Sébastien Neukom, Senior Sales Manager at SIX Swiss Exchange, went to Zürcher Kantonalbank for leveraged products and Leonteq Securities for investment products. Zürcher Kantonalbank accepted the Best Index Product Award, sponsored by SIX SMI Indices, from Denis Meier Fehr, Head of Index Sales at SIX Swiss Exchange.

The Special Award and the Research Award are something special

The Special Award recognizes exceptional special achievements in the Structured Products sector. After not having been awarded last year due to a lack of clear highlights, this time it went to the Swiss Structured Products Association SSPA for the launch of an interbank "SP Portfolio Optimizer" app.

The Research Award, presented for the third time, went to Alexander Kraftschik from the University of Münster for his dissertation entitled "Variance Dynamics and VIX Derivatives: On the Importance of Stochastic Vol-of-Vol". This award recognizes outstanding work by students on the topic of Structured Products. Around a dozen papers were submitted this year, primarily from Germany and Switzerland. Their quality came as a very positive surprise. Three of the five papers that made it onto the shortlist won awards.
