The EU's Digital Operational Resilience in the Financial Sector (DORA) regulation protects the financial sector from IT risks. It will apply from 17 January 2025, and harmonizes regulations for banks. Swiss providers that work for EU financial institutions are indirectly affected.

On 10 July 2023, the EU Commission adopted the new data protection framework with the US. This is intended to restrict the access of secret services to personal data. US companies can obtain certification. Switzerland is negotiating its own data protection agreement.
