The objective of this call for research proposals is to assess the current status and factors affecting the competitiveness of European public capital markets compared to competing capital markets. We are looking for research papers that assess and propose concrete measures based on rigorous academic research findings to strengthen the attractiveness and role of public capital markets in enhancing the growth potential of the European economy and its productivity.

Assessment Criteria
Research Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Academic Quality: Depth of research, methodology, and analytical rigor
- Coverage of relevant aspects of the topic
- Originality or novelty in the approach
- Practicability: Feasibility and practicality of the proposed measures
- Impact Potential: The potential of the proposals to genuinely enhance the competitiveness of European capital markets
Jury Composition:
- Renowned academics with expertise in capital markets
- (Former) policy makers with experience in financial regulations and market dynamics
- Capital market practitioners with hands-on experience in the field
- SIX employees that are capital market practitioners with hands-on experience in the field
Eligibility
- Open to academics with research experience in financial markets
- Also think tanks and other research groups are encouraged to participate
Timeline and Rewards
- Deadlines from the date of the call of research papers:
- 3 months to submit proposals: 27 June 2024
- 3 months to assess the proposals: 27 September 2024
- 12 months to complete the proposals: November 2025
- Submission via upload on this website
- 3 projects to be chosen at an individual support of €15,000 each.
