Mobile Payments with a Debit Card

Currently, SIX offers the following mobile wallet services:

• Apple Pay
• Samsung Pay
• Google Pay
• SwatchPAY!
• Garmin Pay
• Fitbit Pay
• Fidesmo Pay

However, whether you can use your debit card in one of the wallets depends on what your bank offers. Please contact your bank to find out if this is already possible.

The following reasons may prevent your debit card from being used:

• Your physical debit card is blocked.
• You have deactivated the eCommerce function of your debit card.
• The contactless function of the debit card is deactivated.

Also, check your internet connection and whether NFC is enabled on your device.

In order for your debit card to be stored in the wallet, your bank must offer this service.

Furthermore, you need a device that meets the requirements.

• Apple Pay → Apple device
• Samsung Pay → Samsung device
• Google Pay → Android device
• SwatchPAY! → Swatch device
• Garmin Pay → Garmin device
• Fitbit Pay → Fitbit device (except Versa 4 and Sense 2, which run with Google Pay)
• Fidesmo Pay → Fidesmo device

Please also check if you have the latest operating system version of Android/iOS.
 

When the physical debit card is blocked, the corresponding digital card is automatically blocked as well. All payments are rejected.

Yes, you can add your debit card to multiple wallets at the same time (e.g. Samsung Pay and Google Pay). You can also add the card to wallets on multiple devices. 

Yes, you can add debit cards from different banks to the same wallet.

Most wallet apps will then ask you to specify your primary card. Follow the instructions of the wallet provider to do it.

Yes, your debit card can also be added if you already have a credit card.

Most wallet apps will then ask you to specify your primary card. Follow the instructions of the wallet provider to do it.

Yes, you can withdraw cash from the ATM with all wallets. The prerequisite for this is that the ATM is equipped with an NFC panel.

To do that, proceed as follows:

• Hold the device up to the NFC panel of the ATM.
• Follow the instructions displayed on the ATM. Enter the PIN for your physical debit card at the ATM.
• Select “Cash withdrawal” and choose the amount.

You can use these functions:

• Cash withdrawal in CHF
• Balance query

The “Balance query” function displays the current limit of the debit card.

For security reasons, you must use your physical debit card as usual at the ATM to change or unblock your PIN. This is not possible with the wallet.
 

• 12 cards for all iPhones newer than iPhone 8 and Apple Watch Series 3.
•  8 cards for all other devices

The same card can be added to different devices. Passes (e.g. concert tickets) are separate from cards and do not count towards this limit.

Any card stored in the wallet is usually valid for three years and has its own expiration date, which is usually not the same as your physical card. A new physical (replacement) card does not need to be saved again but is instead stored automatically. 

Yes, you can register the same debit card on multiple devices. Prerequisite: The device must be compatible with Apple Pay.

No, if a child in an iCloud family account is under the age of 13, the card cannot be stored. Apple Pay is also disabled on iPads for educational purposes.

It may be that the point-of-sale terminal is not set up correctly to accept contactless payments or Apple Pay. Feedback can be sent directly to Apple via this link.

Please contact your bank if you are also unable to pay at other stores.

The check mark when paying only indicates that the data has been transferred from the phone to the terminal, not that the transaction has been approved. Please contact your bank if you have any questions about a particular transaction.

You have 60 seconds to complete the transaction.

A maximum of the last 10 transactions that you have made with the device are displayed.

Yes, you can disable it in the card details in Apple Wallet (icon with three dots). 

No, at the moment only transactions paid with the wallet on the device are displayed.

No, the transaction history is not available on the Apple Watch, only within the Apple Watch app.

This is not necessary because the card is tokenized in the wallet. This means that the card data (card number, expiration date and card holder name) has been encrypted with a hash value. So when you make a payment, it is not the card data that is exchanged but only this key.

If you want, you can still delete the card from the app and add the replacement card instead.

To add a debit card to Google Pay, the following requirements must be met:

• You have a Google Pay compatible device (usually Android devices).
• Your bank offers this service. Please contact your bank to find out if this is already possible.
   

This additional verification is for safety. To do that, proceed as follows:

• Click on “Refresh”.
• Enter the security code to update the card.

Prerequisite: eCommerce functionality must be activated for your debit card. If you have any questions, please contact your bank.

To confirm the card data, Google performs a transaction for CHF 0. Activate eCommerce to use Google Pay.

To add a debit card to “SwatchPAY!”, the following requirements must be met:

• You have a SwatchPAY! compatible device.

Yes. This currently works for the Versa 4 and Sense 2 devices, and new Fitbit devices will also use Google Wallet in the future.

Fitbit and Garmin require a 4-digit device code when making a transaction. This is set in the Fitbit app and entered directly on the watch.

Note: If you use Fitbit Versa 4 or Sense 2 with Google Wallet, no device code is required.

You can add your card directly to your Click to Pay profile with Visa or Mastercard. Please use the following links:

• Visa: Easy, Smart and Secure Online Checkout | Visa (visaeurope.ch)
• Mastercard: Click to Pay (mastercard.ch)

You can also add your card to a new or existing Click to Pay profile in the debiX+ app. Click on the “Add to Click to Pay” button in the debiX+ app. (This is currently only possible with Debit Mastercard. The function will soon also be activated for the Visa debit card.)

Your Mastercard debit card can only be saved to a Mastercard profile, and your Visa debit card to a Visa profile.

Log into your Click to Pay profile in your browser and go to the “Settings” menu. There you can edit your contact details and your profile.

Log in to your Click to Pay profile in your browser. There you will see the cards that you have successfully added.

You can also view your digital cards in the debiX+ app. To do this, go to the digital debit cards overview on the home screen under “Options”. If your card has been added to a Click to Pay profile, you will see a digital card for Click to Pay there.

In the debiX+ app, go to the overview of digital debit cards and click on the token for Click to Pay. You can block your token for Click to Pay here.

After the card has been blocked, all transactions made with this Click to Pay token will be declined.

You can reactivate the Click to Pay token in the app at any time without having to add the card to Click to Pay again.

Log into your Click to Pay profile in your browser and go to the “Edit card” menu. There you can delete your debit card from your Click to Pay profile.

You can also delete your digital card for Click to Pay in the debiX+ app. To do this, go to the overview of digital debit cards and delete the digital card for Click to Pay.

The function to upload the Visa debit card directly into the Visa Click to Pay profile via the debiX+ app will be available soon.

However, you can already add your Visa debit card to your Visa Click to Pay profile via your browser.
