CEO SIX

Jos Dijsselhof joined SIX in January 2018 as CEO. He holds degrees in computer science and business administration, and has a long track record in international management in the financial sector. He has previously held positions at ABN Amro Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland and ANZ Australia & New Zealand Banking Group in various countries including Hong Kong and Singapore. His most recent role was Chief Operating Officer (2014–June 2017) and CEO ad interim (2015) at Euronext in Amsterdam.

Mr. Dijsselhof is also Chairman of the Board of Directors Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME), Madrid.

Before his appointment as COO of Euronext, Mr. Dijsselhof was a general manager at Australia and New Zealand Bank in Singapore. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry and has worked in Europe and Asia institutions including Royal Bank of Scotland and ABN Amro Bank.

Mr. Dijsselhof earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from the Stenden University of Applied Sciences and an MSc in business administration from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. He completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD.

Secretary General, EACH

Mr. Plata is the Secretary General of the European Association of CCP Clearing Houses (EACH), the trade organisation that represents the interests of European CCPs. A government affairs professional with over 19 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mr. Plata has also represented the interests of regulated market at FESE and worked for the European Parliament as well as in investment consulting.

He is a Member of the Consultative Working Group for ESMA's CCP Policy Committee, an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Securities Operations & Custody, an Invited lecturer on CCP Clearing at the Solvay School of Economics and Management and Vice-President and Chair of Leadership Circle at the European Society for Association Executives.

Mr. Plata studied Business and Economics at ETEA, University of Córdoba (Spain) and The University of Birmingham (UK) and holds a master degree in European Economics from the Free University of Brussels (Belgium).

Head SIX x-clear, SIX

As Head SIX x-clear, Marcus Harreus is mainly responsible for developing the clearing strategy of SIX and defining its key objectives, as well as ensuring the company’s clearing services remain competitive on the market. He joined SIX as Head Strategy of securities services in 2013, a position he held for four years.

Prior to joining SIX, Mr. Harreus enjoyed a long and varied career in the financial sector. He spent twelve years in a range of key positions at Deutsche Börse AG, where he acquired ample management experience and an in-depth understanding of global markets. He has also spent extended periods of time working in Australia and London.

Mr. Harreus’ practical expertise is augmented by an MBA, which he earned from the Goethe University Frankfurt.

European Head of Operations, Instinet

Tanith Johnson is European Head of Operations for Instinet. In this role, Mrs. Johnson has been instrumental in the seamless implementation, management and evolution of Operations at the firm, including the broad spectrum of complex MiFID requirements and Brexit. In addition, she has been a key architect in the delivery of new business solutions such as client clearing services.

Having joined Instinet in 2009, Mrs. Johnson became Head of European Operations in 2010, and was promoted to Managing Director in 2016. Her achievements have been recognized by European Women in Finance with the award for “Excellence in Operations.” Prior to Instinet, Mrs. Johnson held positions with Credit Suisse Securities and Morgan Stanley.

She is a graduate of Middlesex University with a focus in Business Studies.

Head of ETD Europe, Santander CIB

Gilbert SINTÈS runs the Santander’s EMEA futures business out of Madrid which includes both listed execution and clearing as well as over-the-counter cleared derivatives.

Mr. Sintès has a 25 year experience of the futures industry who joined Santander in 2011 from Newedge. He was one of the driving forces behind the making in 2001 of Altura Markets, a futures broker jointly owned at the time by Crédit Agricole CIB and BBVA, offering execution and clearing services to Iberian institutional clients.

Mr. Sintès has a wealth of knowledge and vision helping to position Santander favorably in the new regulatory environment and drive the bank forward in an industry that will require much needed change in post-trade. His experience in key sales roles in the business will ensure he continues to place clients at the very core of all what he does. He also sits on various committees of the Futures Industry Association that deal with regulatory, market and operational issues.

Mr. Sintès holds a BA in Business Administration École des Cadres du Commerce Paris and a MBA in Business Administration University of Dallas Irving Texas.

General Manager - Dublin Branch / Global Head of Depositary & Network Management, MUFG

Brendan Toolan is General Manager at Mitsubishi UFJ Investor Services and Banking (Luxembourg) S.A. - Dublin Branch.  In addition to this local leadership role in Ireland, Mr. Toolan is a member of the Executive Committee of the Bank in Europe, with responsibility for the Depositary & Network Management function in a global role.  Mr. Toolan is also a member of the Euroclear SA/NV Client Advisory Board for Global Custodians.

Mr. Toolan is approved as a PCF by the Central Bank of Ireland has been with MIBL Dublin Branch since November 2017, having over thirty years of industry experience in banking operations and client management in London, Dublin and the Isle of Man. Prior to MIBL, Mr. Toolan has worked for Fidelity Investments, Brown Brothers Harriman, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and JPMorgan Investor Services over the course of a +20 year period.

Mr. Toolan holds a University Diploma in Financial Services awarded by University College Dublin and is a member of both the Institute of Bankers (Ireland) and the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (UK).

Head SIX SIS AG

Stephan Hänseler heads the legal entity SIX SIS AG which provides settlement and custody activities by being Switzerland’s regulated national Central Securities Depository (CSD) and by serving its regulated clients worldwide as a Global Custodian. In this capacity, Stephan Hänseler is responsible for the management and further development of SIX SIS AG across the whole business and acts as a catalyst and driver of the Swiss Financial Center’s competitiveness.

Mr. Hänseler joined SIX after having worked for over two decades in different roles within Credit Suisse and UBS in Zurich and Singapore. Aside of managing global, complex projects he has a proven track record in the securities industry. He is experienced in managing global teams with special focus on acquisition, relationship management, product development and operations – mainly in the area of transaction banking / securities servicing.

Mr. Hänseler is also President of the Board, SIX Terravis AG.

Head of Global Securities Services / Head of Strategy & Business Development GTB, BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking

Alexis Thompson is Head of Global Securities Services for BBVA. He is also responsible for Strategy & Business Development for Global Transaction Banking within Corporate & Investment Banking.

He joined BBVA in 2012 as Head of Product in Global Operations where he was charged with aligning operational capabilities with the needs of the different business lines.Prior to that, Mr. Thompson worked at Altura Markets for 12 years as Chief Operating Officer, where he was responsible for Client Services, Operations and IT.

Mr. Thompson holds a BA (Hons) degree in Hispanic & Latin American Studies from King's College London.

Global Head of Network Management, RBC Investor Services

As Global Head of Network Management, Dan Hickey works to build a network roadmap which leverages our strategic agent relationship, enhancing our custody and market services products. Mr. Hickey is responsible for leading the network function, helping to drive our profitability agenda. In addition Mr. Hickey represents RBC I&TS in market working groups providing intelligence to support our regulatory and product agenda. Delivering insight on regulatory and market infrastructure headwinds along with industry disruptors which could impact network and custody products.

Before joining RBC I&TS, Mr Hickey worked at Barclays where he lead network management in EMEA for five years. Prior to this he was a commissioned British Army Officer for eight years, seeing active service in Afghanistan and Sierra Leone.

Global Head Network Management, Credit Suisse

Head of Network for both the Investment Bank and Wealth Management covering cash and securities custody for the last 3 years. 15 years in banking prior to that, working in Cash & intraday liquidity, and derivatives valuations, mainly with CS but also a stint with Barclays. Came to banking as a newly qualified chartered accountant.

Head of Advisory, BNP

Mr. Cameron has almost forty years experience in the securities services industry which has included roles in sales, product and relationship management. Alan has worked at BNP Paribas Securities Services for the last thirteen years and was previously at Citi for twenty years. His early career was at the Clydesdale Bank, Manufacturers Hanover and Bankers Trust.

Mr. Cameron holds a MA in Economic History from the University of Edinburgh and is a Chartered Banker. He is a member of AFME’s post-trade board.

Head Securities Finance & Business Development, SIX

Valerio Roncone joined SIX as Head Markets & Clients in 2013. In this capacity, he was in charge of all relationship management, product management and sales activities for the post-trade area. He currently serves as Head Future Business in the business unit Securities & Exchanges.

Before working for SIX Mr. Roncone began his career with a brief stint at Bank Cantrade in 1988. A year later, he moved to Bank Julius Baer in Zurich where he stayed for the next 16 years. While at Julius Baer, he held a number of positions within the back-office area of the bank. This included being responsible for derivatives products, as well as corporate actions before taking on the responsibility of Head Securities.

In 2007, Mr. Roncone joined EFG Financial Products as Managing Director and Head Operations. He drove the development and implementation of new products and services until 2013 when, as Head Operational Services, he left the organization to later join SIX.

Head CSD Function SIX Digital Exchange, SDX

Olaf Ransome is the Head of the CSD, Central Securities Depository, Function at SDX. His focus is on all matters settlement, risk management and custody across the digital asset spectrum.

He is also known as the The Bankers’ Plumber. In the last 11 years, Mr Ransome has consulted to banks and FinTechs to help them master their processing; optimising control, capacity and cost.  

Previously, Mr. Ransome worked at both Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, and Salomon Brothers where over the course of over 20 years he worked in Operations, Custody, Private Banking, Operational Risk, Transaction Banking, Islamic Finance & Prime Brokerage.

In that time, Mr. Ransome has worked in London, New York and Zurich, which is where his home is now.

Head of Digital Business, Renta4Banco

Miguel Jaureguízar has a long career in financial markets management roles. As a senior partner in consultancy, he has built several projects and business lines integrating technology in capital markets. Since 2016 he is Head of Digital at Renta 4 Banco, a specialised investment management bank that operates in Spain and Latam, leading investment activities in these markets.

Mr. Jaureguizar is a Board Member at F10 and at ioBuilders. In these roles he advises fintech, blockchain and digital assets innovation and deployment for several global initiatives.

A MSc in Telecommunications Engineering and PgD in Applied Economics, he holds the EFFAS CESGA and CISI IFQ certifications as well. He teaches the subject of Financial Markets and Fintech at IE Business School’s EMBA and GOMBA programs.

Capital Markets Ecosystem Lead, R3

Goncalo Lima is the Capital Markets Ecosystem Lead at R3. Previously, Mr. Limao was a Macro COO at Standard Chartered Bank for the last 13 years. He represented SCB at the Global FX Division and was the chair of the Steering Committee for the last two years. At SCB, Mr. Lima has helped delivering several change projects and more recently was part of some digital initiatives in Financial Markets. Mr. Lima holds a Finance and Banking MsC with distinction from University of Portsmouth and an Economics degree from Nova University in Lisbon, Portugal.

Head Securities Services, SIX

He is also Head Securities Services and Member of the Executive Board, SIX.

In June 2020 the acquisition of BME by SIX group was successfully achieved, giving birth to a new organization in the combined company in full operation since January 2021.  He is also Head of the Securities Services Business Unit at the group level and member of the Executive Board of Six Group. This business Unit covers all post-trade activities of the company world-wide, including the areas of Clearing, Settlement, Custody and Securities Finance.

He served as General Manager of BME from December 2012 to April 2017, with the specific role of coordinating the action of business units and corporate areas. Chairman of the Risk and Security Committees as well as Member of the board of several subsidiaries. Previously, he joined BME as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Executive Committee, assuming the role of conducting the integration process of the newly created group and leading the IPO process which took the company public as of 14th July 2006. 

Prior to its incorporation to BME, Mr. Hernani was Deputy General Manager of the Bilbao Stock Exchange (until 2003), CFO of Norbolsa, S.V.B. (until 1998) and Consultant in Coopers & Lybrand Brussels (until 1989).

Mr. Hernani earned a Degree in Economics and Business by University of Deusto in 1986, a Master’s Degree in European Economic Studies, specialising in Economics, by The College of Europe in Brussels in 1988 and a Master’s Degree in Advanced Management by University of Deusto in 1997.
