Trading turnover in April 2024 totalled CHF 91.7bn, 18.3% more than in April 2023. YTD turnover amounts to CHF 436.6 bn, an increase of 15.5%. Around 4.3 million transactions were carried out on the Swiss stock exchange in April, which corresponds to an increase of 23.6% compared to April 2023.

The SMI fell by 4% to 11,260.9 points in April. The index oscillated between 11,693 points at the beginning of the month and a low of 11,127 points in the middle of the month. Since the beginning of the year, the increase has thus shrunk to 1.1%. 

The ETF market is performing very well, with trading turnover of CHF 5.9 bn in April, an increase of 7.7% on the previous month and a YTD increase of 13.6%. With over 200,000 transactions in April, 13% more than in the previous month, we may expect a new record this year.
