On SIX Swiss Exchange, all segments recorded lower turnover and less transactions compared to a strong July. Year to day however, almost all segments still post large increases – overall, turnover is 17% higher than at the end of August last year, and transactions are up 12.7%. The SMI bounced back in in August, up 3% compared to July, reaching 12,188 points. Year-to-date, the performance stands at 5.1%.

In Spain, BME Exchange also recorded lower turnover and transaction figures than in July, with the exception of the ETF segment. As on SIX Swiss Exchange, the year-to-date figures are substantially higher: overall turnover on BME Exchange was up 15.8% and transactions 6.1% since the start of the year. The IBEX 35 continued its positive momentum, gaining 3.7% in August to close the month at 14,936 points. Since the start of the year, the Spanish blue chip index is up 28.8%.

In August, SIX Swiss Exchange welcomed iShares as the 20th issuer of Exchange Traded Products with crypto-assets as underlyings, listing a product on Bitcoin. Structured Products saw over 11,000 listings in August and reached a total of 112,489 at month end  – setting a new record and already surpassing last year’s total of 110,870 listings.
