SIX is delighted that Banque Cantonale de Genève (BCGE) is using the SPI ESG Weighted Index from SIX for their new Synchrony Optimised SPI ESG Weighted fund. It is the first passive fund of its class based on this sustainability index and underlines the growing shift towards more sustainable investment solutions.

Denis Meier Fehr, Head Index Sales at SIX, highlights: “Our ESG Indices family sets standards in terms of transparency and comprehensiveness in the ESG indexing space. The launch of a further fund based on the ESG Indices from SIX shows the continuing demand for sustainable investment solutions and the high trust placed in our products.”

“BCGE offers passive management based on the SPI Index, using an optimized sampling approach through the Synchrony Optimised SPI® fund, which was launched in 2014. To meet growing demand, BCGE decided to offer a sustainable variant by applying its proven replication technique to the new SPI ESG Weighted Index from SIX. The fund was launched in June 2022 and generated considerable investor interest,” comments Urs Ziegler, Head Asset Management at BCGE.

The SPI ESG Weighted Index measures the development of Swiss equities based on an ESG Rating metric provided by Inrate. The index consists of those components of the SPI which have a rating of at least C+ on a scale from A to D and make less than 5% turnover in disputed sectors.
