The 23rd edition of Switzerland's largest financial trade fair attracted around 2,500 visitors with over 100 exhibitors for the first time. Under the motto "The Future of Finance", industry representatives discussed a wide range of topics that affect the financial world over the course of two days. Among other things, the focus was on investing with cryptocurrencies, ESG topics and open banking.

On the first day of the event, the Swiss stock exchange was represented at two sessions. The first of these was in the form of a panel on the topic of "Portfolio Optimization through Structured Products" and was moderated by André Buck, Global Head Sales & Relationship Management at SIX. In the packed seminar room, experts discussed the increasing demands in the current market environment - and particularly emphasized that capital protection products are enjoying great popularity in the current uncertain market situation, as clients are becoming more risk-averse.

Strong Interest in Crypto Products

In the second session, Danielle Reischuk, Senior ETFs and ETPs Sales Manager at SIX, and Mischa Imhof, Senior Sales Manager for Indices at SIX, gave a presentation highlighting SIX's crypto offering. They provided information on past and current trading trends and presented the range of crypto ETPs as well as crypto indices at SIX. As the leading trading venue for crypto products, the Swiss stock exchange was able to turn over CHF 8.6 billion in this segment last year, a growth of 637% compared to 2020. Going forward, the segment is expected to grow even further. Further crypto indices are also planned to measure the segment.

Open Banking and ESG Still Omnipresent

In addition to these topics, there was also lively discussion about the digitalization of the financial center at the SIX booth. According to speakers and panelists, development in the area of open banking and digitization of customer interfaces is progressing, but not at the pace that experts had predicted. In view of this, SIX was also able to make bLink, the scalable platform for standardized interfaces, a topic of discussion. Sustainability and ESG were also intensively discussed with the experts from SIX. The market is still extremely keen to develop suitable solutions in the ESG area. This included SIX, which was able to inform the audience at the financial fair about its wide range of ESG indices.

For the Swiss stock exchange, Finanz'22 was a valuable occasion to present its products and services. At the SIX booth, many existing contacts could be physically welcomed again after a long time, as well as new ones could be established.
