In a video filmed during TradeTech Europe 2022, where SIX Swiss Exchange was present with a booth, Adam Matuszewski, Head Equity Products and Analytics, provides insights into the current priorities of the Swiss stock exchange. Furthermore, Adam explains the rationale behind the Trading InfoSnack publication series and speaks about the latest research piece – see below.

Unique Liquidity in Swiss Shares

SIX Swiss Exchange embraces the competition for volumes and market share in Swiss equities, both in the lit and in the dark. With the introduction of conditional Block orders in December 2021 we have not only matched the functionality of competing venues, but offer the added benefit of interaction with unique liquidity in SwissAtMid, our non-displayed liquidity pool.

The Block orders allow participants to manage fragmentation and execute large blocks more efficiently and make interacting with unique liquidity in SwissAtMid more attractive. Watch the video to find out what percentage of conditional Large-in-Scale (LIS) orders currently interact with the unique liquidity in Swiss equities.

In December 2021, SIX Swiss Exchange also enhanced Quote on Demand (QOD), its innovative RFQ solution that complements the quote driven market. As Adam points out in the video, the updates have successfully enabled further growth in our ETF and ETP trading segments by improving execution quality.

Adam also provides an outlook on the upcoming new route that’ll expand the microwave network of SIX Swiss Exchange, operated via 12H. SIX Swiss Exchange was also the first regulated exchange in Europe to own and operate an international microwave network. The last network expansion had connected London and Stockholm.

Trading InfoSnacks: High-Quality Research

To support clients and other stakeholder in successfully operating in today’s complex markets, SIX Swiss Exchange regularly publishes its Trading InfoSnacks – a series of research papers that feature unique analysis and insights.

In the video, Adam not only provides more details on the rationale behind these articles – such as the recent edition Order Routing: Analysing the Optimisation Problem with the “Rule of Three” – but also shares a sneak preview on the topic of the next InfoSnack, expected to be published in the coming weeks.
