In April 2026, both blue chip indices of SIX Swiss Exchange and BME Exchange progressed. The SMI in Switzerland rose by 2.8% and the IBEX35 in Spain by 4.3%. That means that after four months, the SMI is still in negative territory, down 1% YTD at 13,126.3 points, while the IBEX35 is up 2.7% at 17,781.0 points.

In terms of trading turnover, both fixed income segments in Switzerland and Spain recorded the highest YOY growth. On SIX Swiss Exchange, turnover progressed 2.9%, reaching CHF 12.0 bn, and on BME Exchange, turnover almost doubled, up 96.2% to reach EUR 12.9 bn. Total trading turnover across all segments on both exchanges has reached CHF 150 bn in April, with CHF 97.3 bn traded in Switzerland and EUR 56.7 bn traded in Spain

A real highlight was the listing of Centiel on SIX Swiss Exchange on April 17, with a market capitalization of approximately CHF 261 mn. The decision by Centiel to list on SIX Swiss Exchange in a difficult market environment is a sign that the company trusts its business model and a strong vote of confidence for the Swiss stock exchange as an attractive listing destination for technology firms.
