The granting of access rights to land register data by Terravis is based on article 9 of the Federal Land Register Regulation (Grundbuchverordnung, GBV). Thus the following have access rights:
- notaries, surveyors entered in the Register of Surveyors, tax authorities and other authorities needing the data to fulfil their statutory duties;
- banks, [the] Swiss Post Office, pension funds, insurers and institutions recognised by the Federal Government [as per the Federal Law on Rural Land Rights (BGBB)] […] needing the data to fulfil their duties in respect of mortgage business (credit or pension institutions);
- lawyers entered in the Register of Lawyers needing the data to exercise their profession;
- certain persons (institutional) needing the data:
- on plots of land which belong to them, or
- on plots of land to which they have rights, if they need the data to carry out their business or exercise their rights.
On this legal basis, the cantons specify the access rights per professional group (user group) applicable in their territory.
Those with access rights may use the data made available to them to fulfil their legal, professional or business duties and are not required to provide proof of interest in individual cases. Current access rights for each user group and canton can be found in Overview of cantonal fees and access rights.
