About Jungfraubahn Holding AG
The Jungfrau Railway Group is Switzerland's leading mountain railway company, and a globally recognized tourism brand. Its flagship destination, Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe, attracts visitors from around the world, and forms the heart of the company's business.
Today, the Group welcomes around four million visitors annually across its three business segments: Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe, Experience Mountains, and Winter Sports. Beyond transportation, the company also operates hospitality, retail and renewable energy businesses, creating an integrated tourism ecosystem in the Jungfrau Region.
The story of the company goes back to the late 19th century, when visionary railway pioneers began connecting the Bernese Oberland with some of the most spectacular alpine landscapes in Europe. In 1996, Jungfraubahn Holding AG took the next major step in its development by listing on SIX Swiss Exchange.
Thirty years later, we met CEO Oliver Hammel and CFO Christoph Seiler at Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe to reflect on the company's journey as a listed company, and its ambitions for the future.
Being listed on SIX Swiss Exchange has significantly expanded our shareholder base, and strengthened our international outlook. It fostered a mindset that supports sustainable growth, innovation and long-term value creation.

After the IPO: Building a Global Tourism Champion
Over the following decades, the Group has continuously invested in infrastructure, visitors' experiences, and international market development. Thanks to a strong distribution network and representative offices worldwide, particularly in Asia, Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe evolved into one of Switzerland's best-known tourism brands.
Today, the company combines mountain railways, winter sports facilities, experience mountains with adventure and family offers, hospitality, retail, and digital services into a premium tourism offering that welcomes guests all year round.
A Vision Realized Through Investment and Innovation
One of the most significant milestones in the company's history was the completion of the V-Bahn project in 2020.
The Eiger Express, one of the world's most modern tricable gondola systems, reduced travel times to Jungfraujoch, and significantly enhanced the visitor experience. Together with the new Grindelwald Terminal, the project marked the beginning of a new era for the Jungfrau Railway Group in the Jungfrau Region.
The V-Bahn further strengthened the competitiveness of Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe and reinforced the company's position as a premium year-round tourism brand.
