SIX gains another high-profile ETF provider

As of today, 5 smart beta ETF issued by Fidelity International trade on the Swiss stock exchange for the first time.

The new listings by Fidelity International take the number of ETF providers available via SIX to a new high of 25, and the number of ETFs to a record of 1'394. According to Fidelity International the Fidelity US Quality Income UCITS ETF provides exposure to high quality companies that aim to pay attractive dividends with the objective of delivering a yield in excess of the broader market whilst, at the same time, carefully managing risk.

This is based on the philosophy that higher quality companies with stable earnings and cash flows have a better opportunity to outperform over time. Risk will be carefully managed by minimising relative sector and country exposures and security specific positions to avoid sector bets. The strategy was launched in April 2017.

By offering hedged share classes Swiss investors have an efficient access to a sophisticated US dividend strategy. According to Fidelity, the ETFs reference their own indices, which are based on in-house expertise in stock analysis as well as portfolio construction and combine investment expertise with systematic aspects of passive investing.

Fidelity International offers world class investment solutions and retirement expertise. As a privately owned, independent company, the company invest GBP 235.1 bn globally on behalf of clients in 26 countries across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and South America.

In the year 2000, SIX has been one of the first European stock exchanges to launch a segment for ETFs and can look back at an unprecedented success story. 2017 has been another record-breaking year: the ETF segment registered a trading turnover of CHF 116.4 billion, clearly beating the previous record set in 2016 by a substantial 12.2%. The number of transactions was also up, by 6% to 1'019'294.

The Swiss financial center is one of the most attractive in the world. To gain access to the assets managed here, new foreign providers enhance the ETF offer on SIX with their products. Fidelity International is already the third new ETF issuer joining the Swiss stock exchange, after J.P. Morgan and Franklin Templeton.
